III Conference 2024 . Towards a new scientific culture
September 19th and 20th, 2024
The conference Towards a new scientific culture reinforces the initial objective of promoting responsible research in the UPV university community, in line with the principles o RRI (Responsible Research and Innovation): science education, gender equality, open access, governance, ethics and citizen participation, placing this objective in the context of the new law on universities and its regulatory change to introduce citizen science in university research processes. From the institution it is important to promote, formalize, structure and internalize these principles, so that the coordinated effort of researchers can transform society and meet the great challenges.
This conference is an initiative of the Vice-Rectorate for Art, Science, Technology and Society (ACTS) in collaboration with the Scientific Communication and Innovation Unit of the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia and the participation of the Vice-Rectorates for Research; Innovation and Transfer; Employment and Lifelong Learning; Students and Entrepreneurship; Internationalization and Communication; and is part of the Strategic Plan 2023-2027 SIRVE
“The future will be dominated by digital technologies while we simultaneously face a sustainability crisis, and both of these transitions are linked with changes in the temporal structures and regimes that shape our lives and society. Digital technologies bring the future into the present, while the sustainability crisis confronts us with the past and challenges us to develop new capabilities for the future. Whatever solutions we come up with must integrate the human dimension and our altered relationship to the natural and technologically transformed environment.” Helga Nowotny
